Nomans

In 1926 a mysterious rune stone was discovered along the shore of Nomans Island off the coast of Massachusetts. It had been inscribed by Viking explorer Leif Erikson with the date 1001. If true, the stone would pre-date Columbus's landing by nearly 500 years. During Prohibition, Nomans became a secret checkpoint for rum runners, leading to suspicious shipwrecks and disappearing sailors. From 1943 to 1996 the US Navy used Nomans as a practice bombing site, pelleting the small 612 acre island with explosives. Presently, Nomans remains uninhabited and full of unexploded ordinances.

Four miles Northeast on Martha's Vineyard, Nomans in Oak Bluffs takes its name from this infamous Island. Today it is a haven for local food, rum, good times and a great place to enjoy the seasons on the Vineyard. We partnered with Nomans to create a custom identity, build a rum brand and design all aspects of the visual design program for the property.
